How Pulse Got Started:
In 2007 I was asked if I had any interest in becoming a personal trainer, and being very active I thought it sounded good, so I gave it a shot. It took working with my first client to know this was the career for me!
I started working with a 55 year old mother of 3 boys. She had always put herself last behind her 3 kids. While doing everything she could for them she was finally ready to do something for herself. This lady just so happens to be my mom. After 1 year of us working together she was in better shape at 55 than she was at age 40.
Seeing so many positive changes in her life first hand I knew coaching was going to be my career and Pulse Personal Training was born!
Now:
17 years later we have evolved but the goal and passion hasn't changed. We are better I get to do what I love and the best part is I get to do it with an amazing team of coaches.
I get to be involved in the transforming lives and seeing people become the very best version of themselves that they lost along the way.
There is no better feeling than seeing this happens and that is why the passion hasn't changed!

"I Am A Mother of Four Who Always Put Myself Last!"
In 2010 after trying and failing so many times with every diet and exercise program imaginable I found Pulse. I really enjoyed my workouts and did lose a little weight, but I had always struggled with following through with good nutritional habits. Being a busy mother of four children, I often took comfort in food to deal with stress. I fell into the trap of putting myself last. When I did have free time, taking care of myself meant going to a fast-food drive thru alone. Even though I loved my workouts, I could not out exercise my poor diet and found myself 50 pounds heavier. I was embarrassed, here I was exercising with a trainer and gaining weight. My mindset was in such an unhealthy place, I knew that nutrition was the piece I was missing.
With the help and guidance of a coach, I slowly shifted my habits and focused on nutrition. Over the course of 3 years, I was able to lose 75 pounds! As the weight came off, mentally things started to change. Losing weight was my only goal to start but I gained so much more in my journey than that. Instead of running for the calorie burn, it turned into a passion that had nothing to do with weight loss. Combining exercise and nutrition really helped me cope with anxiety and depression. I found that patience, consistency, and balance were the keys to my success. Today, I can say that I feel better than I did 10 years ago!
When Jeff asked me to join the team at Pulse, I absolutely loved that I would have the opportunity to help others on their own journeys. Weight loss and fitness goals take time, but with dedication and perseverance it is possible. Getting started can be a difficult step for many people but at Pulse we hope to make that step less challenging.

"I have struggled with the ups and downs with weight loss all of my adult life!"
At my daughter’s first birthday, I got down on the floor to help her open presents and struggled to get back up. I was at my heaviest weight ever and knew something had to be done. Not knowing exactly what to do, I started walking on the treadmill daily and put myself on a diet, at the time I had no idea it was a starvation diet because my calories were so low, but I was desperate. I had been drinking 4-6 Cokes per day and decided those also had to go. Without much of a plan, these actions led to losing around 35 pounds but then the weight loss stalled. Thinking more is better, I increased my activity level and solely focused on calories in vs calories out. I had no concern on nutritional value or the quality of foods I was eating.
After an injury, I was unable to return to work for some time and decided to become certified as a trainer since I was enjoying more physical activity and had even taken up running. I had done several ½ marathons and found them to become less challenging, so I set a goal to run a full marathon before my 40th birthday. When I did not meet my goal time, I checked out mentally. My wife and I just had our 4th child, our older kids were busier with their own activities and my wife was working at and running her own business. My routine slipped away, and before I knew it several years had passed of just going through the motions. Then COVID came along and since I wasn’t doing anything regularly things really spiraled downward.
I found my focus when I started working out and running again on a consistent schedule. With my exercise routine back in place I then moved on to working with a coach on accountability and nutrition. Because I had tried so many times to do this on my own, I found that adding this piece in has really helped. Now, at age 46 I’m stronger and feeling better than I have in a very long time.
I know what it’s like to struggle with your weight. My success was found when I started being honest with myself about what I really wanted and how badly I wanted it! I’ve done this so many times and my plans were always flawed. Finally, I’ve found a way to simplify my plan and keep the focus on my overall health and doing the small things well. I’m no longer feeling like I need to overcomplicate the process!
